Garden Clearance cost in the UK
£150–£600 per job. Typically £300.
Clearing a garden costs £150–£600 in the UK, with around £300 typical for a small-to-medium plot. Waste is the hidden driver: green waste, soil, rubble and old furniture are charged by the load. Overgrowth, access through the house and a London postcode push a clearance up.

What moves the price
- Volume of waste — disposal is often the largest part of a garden clearance and is charged by the load
- Type of waste — soil, rubble and old furniture cost more to tip than green garden waste
- How overgrown it is — brambles, saplings and years of neglect take a crew far longer to clear
- Size of the garden — a small courtyard and a long back garden are very different clearance jobs
- Access — a garden reached only through the house means every bag is carried through
- London and the South East — clearance crews there charge well above the national figure
Domestic and garden services prices in the UK are up 24% over five years (ONS Consumer Price Inflation, Domestic services and household services, to 2026 August). How to pay less
- Fill your council garden waste bin for a few weeks before the clearance so the crew takes less away
- Separate green garden waste from rubble and furniture, as mixed loads cost more to dispose of
- Book the garden clearance in late autumn or winter, when gardeners have more free days
Before you book
- Check the garden clearance company holds a waste carrier registration so waste is not fly-tipped
- Point out any plants, pots or garden features you want kept before the clearing starts
- Look out for nesting birds in hedges and shrubs — disturbing an active nest is an offence
- Ask whether the garden clearance price covers tipping charges or adds them per load
Garden Clearance cost: questions people ask
£150–£600, with around £300 typical for a small-to-medium garden. A light tidy-up with green waste only costs least; an overgrown medium garden with mixed waste costs most.
A small garden takes a few hours. A large or badly overgrown plot can take a full day, sometimes two, with several trips to the tip.
Anyone taking waste away for money must be registered with the Environment Agency, or its equivalent in Scotland and Wales. If your waste is fly-tipped, you can be fined too, so check the register before you book.
For a big clearance with soil or rubble a skip can be, but it may need a council permit if it sits on the road. For mostly green waste a van is usually simpler.
Felling trees, grinding stumps, taking down sheds and replanting or turfing are priced as separate jobs.
