About Sonny Molloy's
Sonny Molloy's is an Irish whiskey bar and restaurant in the centre of Galway city. It takes its name from Sonny Molloy, a well-known Galway character, and the building once housed a drapery shop he ran. The building dates back to the 1600s, and part of it forms the old city walls. The bar counter is the one Sonny worked behind. Whiskey platters are a feature, with five to choose from, and staff take guests through the nose and taste of each whiskey. The bar is a founding member of the Galway Whiskey Trail, and its menus include lunch, evening, kids, cocktail and wine lists. You can eat in or order takeaway.
