This notice explains the cookies and similar technologies Locufy uses on locufy.com, what each one is for, how long it lasts, and how you can change your choices at any time.
A cookie is a small text file a website stores in your browser. Some of our features also keep a small amount of information in your browser's own storage instead of a cookie; those are listed here too.
We group everything into three categories. Operational cookies are always active, because the site needs them to work and to give you the service you came for. Performance and advertising cookies are optional, and they stay off unless you choose to allow them.
Operational cookies β Always active
These cookies let Locufy work and give you the service you came for. Because the site relies on them, they can't be switched off in Cookie preferences. They're set by Locufy itself, apart from the payment provider's fraud checks on the pages where you enter card details.
- Signing you in and keeping you signed in.
- Remembering your preferences, such as your market (Ireland or the UK), your town, your language, whether you're browsing services or places to eat, and your recent searches.
- Delivering content and features that may interest you, such as the order in which services and providers are shown, suggestions, and providers you looked at before.
- Detecting fraud and keeping the site and your account secure.
- Checking that the site works as it should, such as spotting errors and measuring how quickly pages load.

Performance cookies β Optional β off unless you allow them
These cookies help us understand how people use Locufy, so we can see what works and what to improve. They're set by Google Analytics, a measurement service run by Google. They're only set if you choose Accept all, or switch performance on in Customise.
Google Analytics. Runs on every page so we can count visits and fix what isn't working. Until you accept performance cookies, it stores nothing on your device and sends Google only basic visit signals: the page, the time, your browser type and your rough region. It doesn't use these to identify you. If you accept, it also sets its cookies (_ga, _ga_*), which recognise a returning visit for up to 2 years. You can change your choice at any time in Cookie preferences.
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Set by | First / third party |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Tells visits apart, so Google Analytics can count how many people use the site and how. | 2 years | Google Analytics | Third party |
| _ga_* | Keeps track of your visit for Locufy's Google Analytics account. | 2 years | Google Analytics | Third party |
Advertising cookies β Optional β off unless you allow them
These cookies let advertising partners, such as Google and Meta, measure how well Locufy's ads work and show you Locufy ads on other websites. They're only set if you choose Accept all, or switch advertising on in Customise.
Locufy doesn't currently use any advertising cookies. If we start using them, we'll list each one here before it's used, and it will only be set if you've allowed advertising cookies.
Stored in your browser instead of a cookie
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Set by | First / third party |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| locufy_attribution | If you arrived by clicking one of our ads, remembers which ad it was, so we can tell which ads work. (Only if you allow advertising cookies) | Until you sign up, or until you clear it | Locufy | First party |
Changing your choices
When you first visit Locufy, a short banner at the bottom of the screen lets you choose Accept all, Decline optional, or Customise. Decline optional turns off performance and advertising cookies; operational cookies stay on because the site needs them.
You can change your mind at any time. Select Cookie preferences at the bottom of any page, or use the button below, to switch performance and advertising cookies on or off. Your choice is kept for 12 months, and then we ask you again.
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser's settings. If you block operational cookies, parts of Locufy, such as signing in, may not work.
If you have a Locufy account
When you're signed in, we also use the information described above to run your account, for example to keep your searches and preferences with you across your devices. You can download a copy of the information we hold about your activity, or ask us to delete it, from your account settings.
How long we keep it: the record of what you do on Locufy is kept for 13 months, and the profile built from it for 24 months after your last visit, unless you delete it sooner.
