Mara

About Mara

Mara is a restaurant on O'Connell Street in Waterford, where chef-owner Luis Martin serves contemporary Irish cooking with a North Spanish influence. It took over the space once known as The Old Couch Café and keeps its quirky, bijou feel, with just six tables in a cosy, well-lit room. Luis works largely alone in the kitchen, drawing on locally foraged produce, and Spanish touches appear in dishes such as ajo blanco and cod buñuelo. The cep tiramisu has become a signature. The Michelin Guide features Mara. The restaurant also runs small-group cooking classes, from butchery to Italian cookery, and offers catering or a private chef at home. You can eat in, and you can book a table.
