What moves the price

  • Needle depth — deeper medical microneedling costs more than superficial therapist-led sessions
  • Practitioner — nurse- and doctor-led microneedling is priced above beauty therapist sessions
  • Add-ons — growth-factor serums, PRP or radiofrequency make microneedling far dearer
  • Area — face and neck or acne scarring on the body take longer than a face-only session
  • Location — London clinics charge more for microneedling than clinics elsewhere
  • Course size — three to six sessions bought together usually cost less each

How to pay less

  • Book microneedling as a course of three to six, which clinics usually discount
  • Choose standard microneedling first and add serums or radiofrequency only if advised
  • Protect microneedling results with daily SPF so you need fewer top-up sessions

Before you book

  • Ask who performs the microneedling and what medical or aesthetic training they hold
  • Avoid microneedling over active acne, cold sores, eczema or broken skin
  • Stop retinoids and exfoliating acids about a week before microneedling
  • Tell the clinic before microneedling if you take blood thinners or have recently had isotretinoin

Microneedling cost: questions people ask

Usually £90 to £350, with about £150 a common starting price. Doctor-led sessions and London clinics cost more.

About an hour in total, including around 20 to 30 minutes for the numbing cream to work.

There is no single national licence for microneedling, so check training, insurance and hygiene. In England and Wales, councils register some skin-piercing treatments, and a clinic run by doctors or nurses in Scotland registers with Healthcare Improvement Scotland.

Most people book three to six sessions about four weeks apart, then a top-up every few months.

Radiofrequency needling, PRP and aftercare products are usually extra or sold as separate treatments.
