What moves the price
- Body area — underarms and the lip are quick, while a full leg wax is the longest single area
- Hot or strip wax — hot wax for intimate areas costs more than strip wax on the legs
- Intimate waxing — Brazilian and Hollywood waxing are priced well above a bikini line
- Combinations — legs and bikini or full-body waxing packages lower the price per area
- Location — London and the South East charge more for waxing than the rest of the country
- First visits — a first intimate wax often takes longer and may cost more
Hairdressing prices in the UK are up 26% over five years (ONS Consumer Price Inflation, Hairdressing and personal grooming establishments, to 2026 August). How to pay less
- Book waxing for several areas together, since combined waxing packages cost less per area
- Keep to a four-to-six-week waxing routine so hair is finer and each visit is faster
- Look for weekday waxing offers in salons that are quiet before lunchtime
Before you book
- Let hair grow to about 5 millimetres, roughly two to three weeks, before waxing
- Avoid sunbeds, fake tan and exfoliating acids on the area for a day before waxing
- Tell the waxing therapist if you use retinoids, as waxing can lift the skin
- In Greater London a salon offering waxing and other special treatments needs a council licence

Usually £8 to £50 per area, with about £20 for an area such as the arms or bikini line. Full legs and intimate waxing are the dearest.
A small area takes about 10 minutes. Full legs with a bikini line can take up to 45 minutes.
Hot wax grips the hair rather than the skin, so many therapists use it for bikini, Brazilian and underarm waxing. It is often gentler on sensitive skin, though it can cost a little more.
Yes. Many salons offer legs-and-bikini or full-body packages, and you can usually add a brow wax or lip wax to the same visit.
Laser hair removal, electrolysis and treatment for ingrown hairs are separate services with their own prices.
