Frank O'Briens Pub is a family-run bar and grocery on Emily Square in Athy, dating back to 1875. The building counts among the last pub-and-grocery houses in Ireland, with shelves at the front and the bar at the back. The business has stood on the square for nearly a century and a half, serving market-day traders from the 1800s onward. Next door is the Shackleton Experience and Museum, and the square has been redeveloped. Locally it is also known for the Brown Bag Lunch, with soup and sandwiches made fresh each day. Parking is available in the square nearby.
