About Broke Boy Pizza
Broke Boy Pizza is a wood-fired pizza kitchen in the beer garden at Peddler Mac's in Athlone. It was started by Athlone-raised Paddy Moran, who began making pizza at the back of his college house in Galway, where a weekly Monday Club was born among friends. Pop-ups followed, and it is now a permanent fixture at Peddler Mac's. The dough is naturally fermented with sourdough yeasts for four to five days, and it is made with high-protein, remilled flour. The pizzas are baked in a brick oven fired with wood, imported from Italy, and they are a little crisper than a typical Neapolitan base. The menu includes a margherita, a pepperoni and a wild mushroom and ham pizza, with sides and dips. You can eat in or take away.
